YesnomayB's strategy against Spam

First of all, we slow down Spammers

• image verification on send message

  image verification on message sending will cause only humans to be able to send messages. will also slow down spammers who plan to copy and paste a spam message to a large amount of users.

• max 1 message per 3 minutes (fixed)

  a user can only send a maximum of 1 message per 3 minutes.

• verification of similarities in messages (new!)

  on every sent message the system verifies if the new message is identical to other messages already sent by the same user. if the system detects that a user has sent x similar messages lately (provided that the messages are at least a certain lenght), the privilege of writing messages will be temporarily suspended for this user and an alert will be sent to the administrators. so spammers will have to stay very creative!

Secondly, we Spot Spammers very fast

• ability to see time registered and messages sent for each user

  when you look at someones profile on YesnomayB and you see that the person has only registered a few hours ago and has already sent a few hundred messages, you can see right away that this user is a spammer.

• ability to order users by amount of messages sent on search page

  on the page to search for users, you can order users by how many messages they have sent, spammers will most likely appear around the top of that list. click here to see users ordered by amount of messages sent (must be logged in)

• a form on every page to report spammers

  on every userpage and every message that you receive, there is a link that you can click that opens a box in which you can report a person if you suspect them of beeing a spammer. admins are notified every day when there are new reports in.

• email addresses and URLs monitoring (not yet implemented)

  whenever a user sends a message that contains a link or an email address, this information is logged into a special database table for this purpose and these logs are monitored by the admins, admins will automatically receive an alert when a link or email address is repeatedly found in messages sent.

and Finaly we negate their efforts

• account suspension (not yet implemented, in the meantime we just delete the users who spam)

  naturally one of the first thing to do when we encounter a spammer is to ban their account. (this way they cannot register again with the same email address)

• blurring of sensitive info on sent spam

  whenever we find a spammer we will do a string replacement on the database to change the link or email address in the spam message for something like "spam link removed". so that the spammer does not benefit from spam already sent before beeing detected.

• banning of spammers ips

  the ip addresses of the spammers will be blocked from accessing the site

• letting everybody know about this!!
